I bought this from Amazon believing I would get it today… the actual release date. I even paid the 1 day shipping charge as a Prime Customer. I could have bought Snow Leopard anywhere other than Amazon and received it today. BUMMER! Not a good idea to buy a pre-release of Apple products from Amazon.

Made the mistake of ordering from Amazon before the release date. Could have picked it up from the Apple store on day of release, instead Amazon shipped it through the US Postal Service and it won’t be here for a week. With five bucks(!) shipping, paid the exact same price, but Amazon is making me wait a week. Thanks Amazon!

UPDATE: Amazon says they shipped it 8/27 at 09:05:52 PM, now USPS says they actually received the product from Amazon on 8/28 at 10:19:00 PM, a full 24 hours after Amazon says they shipped it. USPS says it won’t arrive until 9/3, a FULL WEEK after Amazon ’shipped’ it.

Amazon, you suck.

UPDATE 2: Amazon sent a gracious note refunding me the cost of shipping. Makes sense - had I spent another nickel the shipping cost would have been free anyway, and arrived at the same slow pace.

I will be refusing the package upon arrival in order to get a full refund of the product. I’ve purchased the product locally with no trouble.

There is word that some people won’t see their product delivered by Amazon for as much as two and a half weeks after release, but you’d never know that by looking at the product page - in fact you won’t know it until well after the order is placed.

Amazon is screwing this up big time. Buy local, or order directly from Apple. Please don’t buy this from Amazon. I know I’ll never make the mistake of using Amazon for any item that I care about owning or receiving in a timely fashion. Amazon’s reputation on delivering? Destroyed.

UPDATE 3: As of 9/1, four days after Amazon reports they ’shipped’ the product, USPS is finally reporting they ‘expect your package for mailing’ from the shipper. Amazon, you suck.

There seems to be no longer a difference between paying for shipping versus getting it for free from their super saver plan. It’s going to be lousy service either way. Amazon shipped the product four days after release, despite my pre-order and paying for shipping.

No notification on the website of a back-order. No notification on the website of just how long before they’ll actually ship the product.

That’s not service. That’s despicable. Go to your local Apple Store or order directly from Apple. Don’t order this from Amazon.

I do not understand why Amazon is now showing it will only be in stock on 8/30 and with my prime membership will deliver it on 9/1 when MacMall and Apple were promising delivery on Friday 8/28! I preorded on 8/1!
